Our coaches will deliver over 600 hours of basketball in physical education classes and afterschool clubs working with a range of age groups across primary and secondary schools in County Durham. The sessions are intended to promote not just basketball, but the importance of regular physical activity.
Meet Our Coaches:
Tanja Licina joined the Wildcats in 2013 as a community coach. She oversees the development of the Wildcats Community and Junior Programmes. Tanja also plays for the Durham University women’s basketball BUCS team. She is currently pursuing her EdD in Education. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island and played on their basketball team (NCAA Division I). She has played professionally in Croatia, Hungary, Sweden and Spain.
Ashleigh Vella joined the Wildcats in 2013 as a community basketball coach. Whilst coaching at various primary schools, satellite clubs and camps, Ashleigh is also pursuing her Master’s in Education from Durham University in addition to playing on the women’s basketball BUCS team. The Melbourne, Australia native graduated from Idaho State University in 2013 whiling playing NCAA Division I basketball. In addition, she has represented Malta in 18 international matches, twice winning gold in European tournaments.
